Goodness and Grief

Out of her cage. She was so sage. She knew it was her last day. She has become too tired to play. Spare some grief, let in the doubt. The door to this room is the only way out. An old towel is not much comfort. But it’s ok, she will no longer hurt. Out of the cage, into the ground. It was hard, but I know she is proud. That we made this sacrifice. Although, we had to think twice. We say a prayer. And feel despair. There she will wait. At that gate. I remember the humane society. You were looking so pretty. You became something more. A cat we adore. Now she climbs. As we listen to wind chimes. You spent your life being the best. And now you will have peace and rest.
