Goodbye

Goodbye
It seems like I just met you
And yet it has been three years
It seems like I just started to fall in love with you
Two years have passed
It seems like we just got married
And it has been a year and a half
But here I am
Standing here
As you break my heart
And walk away
I cannot keep begging you to stay
My heart does not work that way
And as much as I long for you
I know I will be better off
I wish it did not hurt so badly
I wish I could just be mad
However I cannot deny
That I will always love you
And a part of me died the day
You walked out that door
Without even saying

~Goodbye~

Such a touching poem, Jean. I hope better days are ahead for you. My husband died when we had been married just four years. It's not the same as having someone walk away from you, but I can identify with the loneliness. Best wishes, Carolyn
