Goodbye

I stand here alone, gazing up at the moon, Wondering where you are, and if you'll be back soon. But the silence around me is empty and still, Aching with the absence of your laughter and will. I remember the times we shared, the love that we knew, The dreams we once had, and the plans we'd pursue. But now, all that's left is a music box's melody, Haunting me with memories of what used to be. I wish I could have seen your pain, your sorrow and strife, To hold you close, and protect you from the darkness of life. But now you're gone, and my heart is heavy with regret, Wishing that somehow, I could have helped you forget. As I stand here, watching the stars dance in the sky, I feel a part of me missing, and I cannot deny, The emptiness that consumes me, like a flame in the night, Reminding me of the void left by your tragic flight. But even in the midst of this sorrow and pain, I know that your spirit will forever remain, In the memories we shared, and the love that we gave, A tribute to the person that we couldn't save. So goodbye, my dear friend, I'll cherish the time we had, And though you're gone, your memory will never fade. I'll keep your light alive, and carry you in my heart, Until we meet again, and nevermore be apart.
