Notes About The Poem

This is a traditional meal in our area or culture..I would have some pork different cuts prepared different ways..I would have mashed potatoes and possibly baked sweet potatoes..Collards or the greens could be turnips or cabbage..The greens eaten equal the green backs that will come into your hands and the peas equal the pennies or change that will come into your hand..

Good Luck Meal

                                                      Noon Meal
                                               Soft blackeyed peas
                                      Collard greens chopped real fine
                               Pork boiled baked or fried, corn bread jive
                                                      Good luck
                                                       
                                                      Meaning
                                             Soft blackeyed peas
                                         Equals the pennies made
                                 Collards equals dollars one makes
                                                     Eat much

We are getting spring like weather that is totally unbelievable for this time of year. The water is running like it is spring. I am enjoying this winter because it feels like spring.
