Gone With the Wind

Gone with the Wind

Slow spinning in autumnal swirl
they mimic ballerina’s twirl,
dancing on the exhaled sigh
a forming cloud in distant sky.

As I set each petal free
I feel its sting inside of me
uttering each simple word
unleashing cut of slashing sword.

Hoping as each petal fled
the last would not confirm my dread,
as through my fingers memory slips
salt rain would find my trembling lips.

So did the petal-dropping end
as they left, “Gone with the Wind”
leaving stem and man distraught.
The petals said – “She loves me not.”

i think this one came as a result of my yard work on Monday. Some flower petals fell and softly blew away. Thanks as always for reading and commenting.
