Gone

Gone I missed the ship Oh no, oh f*ck, oh sh*t! And as the silhouette Flickers and dips (carrying my last old suitcase) And fades like the evening sun, I try to picture your tired and lovely face But nothing comes. A man hands me a little note Grey and creased Where you wrote That you just couldn’t wait Anymore And as my tears finally fall, but much too late And make pretty stars on the floor I hold my once proud head in my empty hands And don’t know anymore. And can’t understand How I could lose the person I most adore And the one most worth Living and dying for. © Sangeet Portals 2019

Having nearly missed boarding the odd vessel, I relate to your moving poem strongly. I hope your love waited for you in the first port of call. A fine write that has impact. Best wishes. Brian
