Gone

Small flecks of grey within her hair A radiance so sublime Draws from me, deep within my heart A time when she was mine Within her smiling countenance Her eyes shined very bright If I had known within that look That she would pass that night I might have changed my selfish ways Paid attention to her needs Encouraged her and loved her more When she accomplished smaller deeds She couldn't do a lot of things And stuttered when she spoke But still a bright light shined within If she pulled off a joke Within those dark brown loving eyes Poured out her heartfelt tears They're meant for all of us to share Throughout the coming years She knew that all to soon she'd walk Upon those golden streets With Jesus' hand held tight in hers Blessing all that she would meet You've been gone from me 1/2 a year And still I feel the pain I hear you on soft summer winds Their breezes speak your name The waves call out to you "Come Back" I can see you in the clouds I seek you thru the day and nights I call for you out loud The time has come I should not mourn This, so that I've been told But those who speak these hurtful words Have hearts of stone, so cold I must admit my love's still strong I guess it's quite a quirk You just don't know how hard it is To forget God's handiwork You know it comes from God above My love I'll call it fate While I sit here and contemplate He has the words, to relate He tells me trust your inner faith Know that I feel your pain Although you feel you've lost the world Know that you'll love again

Darlene I just edited my original poem Gone and thought you might be interested to reread it. Hopefully the changes will add to the meaning of the original poem. Thank you for reading the original and your lovely comment. George.
