Golgothan Solace

Oh! blest Dismas, Dismas.....

The wooden frame to which you’re nailed—
(Roman penalty)

With outspread wrists and spikes impaled
Transcends mere agony.

Between your brother thief and you
Upon His wooden span,

Sags a Shape soon raised anew…
Reprieving faith-filled man.

Rejoice in Paradise, dear Dismas!
