Goldfish In Bowl

Confined in a bowl of silver bubbles human eyes to view, hurled and thrown round and round, aimless drift in orbits a prison of luminous water to swim alone Can I jump.out of my gulping waters from cocoon, a butterfly waiting to escape fly out like birds, breathing above water Can I wade upstream sinking in red tape? Floating homesick in my isolated world, zigzag I keep swaying, trapped in glass thoughts sail a blanket of ocean waves slithering I pass, freedom in death , Alas! Debjani, now we know why we feel sorry for the lone "goldfish in the bowl." Your poem reflects the sadness of this fish as it lives within a confining space. Congratulations on your placement. All the best, Sonia.

Sad reality that their freedom from the bowl ends in death. Makes one wonder if it's better to stay where you're placed. Enjoyed your poem.

I have enjoyed this personification poem. Especially: "Can I jump.out of my gulping waters from cocoon, a butterfly waiting to escape fly out like birds, breathing above water Can I wade upstream sinking in red tape"
