Golden Arches
POEM " GOLDEN ARCHES " by martin gedge
A billion mounds of revenue to satisfy the man
a building block won't stop the Kroc to monopolize the brand
across a thousand countries just to occupy the land
and prey upon a feeding frenzy zoo
relentless pitch investing was the meaning of success
put to every market share the weight of every test
finding the right formula to suit the suitor best
with the others lacking size to fit the shoe
from every single burger to the french potato guy
so quick with every chicken or filet o' fish to fry
another golden nugget in the apple of their pie
and a double stack of Mac beyond compare
a cold and chilly shake was just a break from soda pop
while brewing every morning was your coffee good and hot
the goal was never ending always changing couldn't stop
and you can see the golden arches everywhere
to think to crack an egg was just a leg up in the plan
a bacon strip a sausage pig or slice of peameal ham
to top it off a biscuit or a muffin plated jam
with everything to feed your family
they introduced an audience to a face and painted clown
a company of characters to parade their way cross town
for kids they built a fortune in a house with a playground
and with every branch they plant another tree
I once was an employee and to think it taught me well
the satisfaction in knowing it was all suggestive sell
the secret is the sauce and you know I cannot tell
don't need to even ask or have the nerve
for every Mickey D's there's a number here in case
of every walk it touches every color every race
the one that puts the arches on a child's golden face
with every single smile that they serve..
