Going Off To Camp

Today is the day you left
you're going to Cadet camp,
you'll be gone for seven weeks
today had to be wet and damp.

You found out just yesterday
you were excepted the day before,
I'm happy you're able to go
maybe now, Summer won't be a bore.

I am going to miss you
days will seem to go by slow,
you'll be part of the staff
I say to you, "Way to go!"

I hope you enjoy yourself
last time you ended up being sick,
you got stuck having a cold
it must have happened quick.

I know you probably didn't think
you'd get picked for camp this year,
I don't know if it was on your mind
for you, I cry happy tears.

My son got picked to go to Army Cadet camp this year. He's a Warrant Officer. He was able to get this promotion about a month ago or more. My son is going to be part of the staff. I don't think he was even thinking about going to camp this year, considering his father told him not too long ago, if he got picked, he wasn't allowed to go. His father just changed his mind about it yesterday. I'm happy he did. I would have been upset with him, if he said no again!!!
