Goethe's Path
The forest path meandered through the trees
ahead the silvery tinkling sound of water
there was also a murmuring drone of bees
slowly slithering away was a sleepy adder
Entering the pretty glade full of flowers
his senses lulled by the peacefulness
watching with joy the diving dippers
and a kingfisher preening its feathers
Onward through the leafy forest he strolled
over on the right there were many fissures
as breathing heavily he climbed up the wold
arriving at the huts of the wood dwellers
The high priest Druid Fire Dancer strode out
shouting welcome, come sit here by the fire
there roasting over the fire pit were trout
people dancing to the sweet tunes of the lyre
