God's Special Choice
In the early morning
Before the sun’s first smile
With an angel by my side
I rode my last mile.
She whispered in my ear
In a gentle soothing voice
Fear not my child
You are God’s special choice.
I love you all
More than I could ever say
And I’m so sorry
I had to leave you this way.
Though you may not see me
I’ll always be there
Wrapping you in my arms
With loving care.
I’ll be the gentle breeze
That kisses your cheek
I’m the calming presence
When life seems too bleak.
Take a deep breath
Of the fresh cut hay
My spirit surrounds you
Each and every day.
I’m the gentle rain
Dancing on the roof
Hear my whisper
Beneath a prancing hoof.
When the leaves turn colors
And dance to the ground
You’ll see my smile
Scattered all around
I’ll be that dainty snowflake
That lands on your nose
Making you smile
Beneath winter’s pose.
I’ll whisper in your ear
In a gentle soothing voice
Fear not my family
I am God’s special choice.
This poem was written for a coworker's daughter who was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident. No words can ever ease her family's pain, but hopefully this poem will remind them that she is always watching over them, protecting them, loving them!
