God's Soldiers

Six feet under,
In their graves they all lie.
It really makes me wander,
Just why they had to die.

They fought so bravely,
In the war that was won.
But now they've gone to heaven,
To be with Jesus, God's son.

They loved my dear Jesus,
With their body, mind and heart.
With the Bible as their weapon,
The love of God they did impart.

With the Spirit as their shield,
Ol' satan didn't get away.
They were sure to bruise the serpent's head
Every single day.

They'd get down on their knees,
And pray both day and night.
They'd pray that all their family
Would make it to Heaven all right.

Yes, all of God's soldiers,
Who finally made it home.
Safe in the presence of God,
Never more to roam.

Walking on streets of gold,
Battle scars all healed.
Their dreams of seeing Jesus,
Finally fulfilled.
