God's Love Story

GOD’S LOVE STORY God reached down one day To all us sinners who had strayed so far away; He sent His Son, the price of sin for us to pay; He gave His blood as there in agony He lay-- He loved us so. We deserved to die, But Jesus came down from His home up in the sky; He bore the shame for sinful souls like you and I; He didn’t have to, but there was a reason why: He loved us so. The crown of thorns, the spear that pierced His side, The agony He suffered when He died, The nails, the scars, the bruises there All show to us His love, His great compassion That made Him die there in that fashion; To sinful men He showed He cared. Can we comprehend The greatness of this love that God to us did send? Though we may not, He loves us still until the end; He wants to be our Saviour and our faithful friend-- He loves us so. What amazing grace That He should come from heaven’s home to take my place, My sinful shame and past so willingly erase; I’ll thank and praise Him when I see Him face to face-- He loved me so. These words written to “Theme From Love Story.”
