God Wants To Bring Me Through
GOD WANTS TO BRING ME THROUGH
When I think of my past, I become so downcast
O’er my failures and my sins,
Then I think of the day when Christ took them away
And He gave me peace within.
I can mourn with disgrace o’er the years I did waste
And shed tears and be so blue;
Satan wants me to stay; God wants to bring me through.
Satan wants me to stay; God wants to bring me through.
He delights in his lies and the times he makes me blue.
And he wants to prevent God’s purpose to come true;
Satan wants me to stay; God wants to bring me through.
When I think of the trials over life’s many miles
And the times when I was sad,
I can’t help but recall God was there in it all
And He made my heart so glad.
It’s so easy to say, “Why did this come my way?”
And to wonder what to do.
Satan wants me to stay; God wants to bring me through.
When sin o’er me prevails and I stumble and fail,
I feel guilty and ashamed;
When my light doesn’t shine for the Saviour Divine
And I grieve His holy name,
It’s so easy to cry, “Why do I even try?”
And to want to give up, too.
Satan wants me to stay; God wants to bring me through.
When I come to the day when I must go my way
Over Jordan’s swelling tide,
I can look on that shore, see my home ever more,
And my Lord’s arms open wide,
Or can face it with fear with a sigh or a tear,
Not the victory clear and true;
Satan wants me to stay; God wants to bring me through.
These words have been written to music.
