God, the True Hero

The heroes of yore were victors in war.
They fought in battles on faraway shores.
They were known for their courage, battle skills,
resilience, selflessness, and steel-strong wills.

The true God is a mighty man of war
Those who fought him in battle were done for.
The sound of his chariot made men tremble
When foes faced him, his might overthrew them.

His first battle was within heaven’s gates
against a great angel of high estate.
Lucifer attempted to seize God’s throne
But out of heaven God’s first foe was thrown.

Once, the Assyrians came with their forces
to fight Israel, with chariots and horses.
The size of their army made Israel dread,
but in just one night, God smote them all dead.

The proud king, Pharaoh, with God picked a fight.
With pompous words, he did Israel’s God slight.
After the ten plagues that on him God sent,
Pharaoh was humbled and forced to relent.

Israel left Egypt at night and in haste
Delivered by God who had laid it waste.
Then Pharaoh’s army decided to chase
and return God’s people to his own place.

God parted the sea and dried up the ground
Israel crossed safely, but Pharaoh’s host drowned.
In every age, this truth was repeated
that all God’s foes, by him, were defeated.

Nebuchadnezzar was boastful and proud
“Let your God save you, since you would not bow.”
The three Hebrew boys were thrown in the fire
But God’s great might showed him who was sire.

After another encounter with God
for seven years, the king lived on the sod.
Then when at long last, his senses returned
God is the true God, is what he had learned.

Ancient Greek heroes all journeyed to Hades
to cross death’s border and not stay as prey.
Hercules seized Ceberus with bare hands,
ensuring his fame as a hero stands.

God, the true hero, went down to Hades
But death could not keep him or make him stay.
On the third day, he came forth a victor
For like a hero, Old Death he had licked.

Today, a cosmic conflict rages on
And the real battle lines are clearly drawn.
Satan and his evil host are arrayed
Against God and the host who with him stayed.

In this cosmic war, you must choose a side.
Choose God’s side, and through Heaven’s gates you’ll stride.
Choose the side of God’s first defeated foe,
and with his licked host, to Hell you will go.

One day soon, God will the victory gain,
and peace on the earth will once again reign.
Satan’s host will be forever vanquished
And sin and death from earth will be banished.

To God, the hero, men praises will sing.
Worship and honor to him they will bring.
God, the true Hero, forever will be
King of Kings, LORD of lords, Almighty He.
