God Switch

King upon a cross,
And forgotten gods displaced.
Former ways made false,
And new doctrines are embraced,
Or enforced by sword and mace.

Jesus was a Jew,
But his features were defaced.
Eyes were painted blue;
Olive skin had been replaced,
By the hue of my own race.

Christ's features do appear to be Anglicized, Timothy. Never thought of it before, but you're right. We've been told that we are made in God's image; perhaps every region of the world has their own image of God that matches the way they look. Compelling words! Love, Carolyn
