God Said Checkmate
I was surviving in life, just doing my thing,
Only one day to realize, my life, was a mess.
In life’s chess game, God had my attention,
With life in the balance, I dared not to guess.
With worry plaguing me, and spirit bound,
I accepted Jesus Christ as my living answer.
By repenting, my sins, now under his blood,
Made the news less important, of my cancer.
Thought it to be a good thing this New Year’s morning
While the peas and Jowl slow-cook
To recall the best day of my life when twenty-eight years old.
