God Knows That I Am Human

GOD KNOWS THAT I AM HUMAN God knows that I am human, He knows that I will fall, So He’s there to forgive me when on Him I will call. Oh yes, there is chastisement and there’s a price to pay If from Him I should wander and go on my own way. My flesh often deceives me, enticing me along, So often I will struggle to keep from doing wrong. Temptation’s always coming, so often I will fail, Let habits overtake me, let Satan then prevail. And so I feel unworthy to call myself God’s son, But God knew all about this before time had begun. And though He saw my future, and though He knew my sin, He said He’d still die for me, let me begin again. His grace and love and mercy are hard to understand, For though He knows my failures, He still has a great plan. I’m often looking backward, remembering the past, But He says He’s forgotten and in the sea it’s cast. Whenever now I’ve fallen and overwhelmed with grief, If I say I am sorry, He brings me His relief. That doesn’t give me license to live what way I will, But it surely gives me comfort to know He loves me still. He gently will rebuke me through His word or His man, Or He may use a trial to bring me back again. So when in sin I’ve fallen, I need not in it stay In pride or in rebellion and further from Him stray. For God knows I am human, and His mercy and His grace Are there just for the asking when I look into His face. I’m glad He knows I’m human, but much more glad am I That He will make me perfect in my home in the sky.
