God Is There

These are things in my past, of which I’m not proud.
I did these things merely to fit in the crowd.
The direction of my life, I didn’t have a clue.
I saw many people, Lord, claiming to know you.
I would avoid them, due to the things that they’d say.
Like repent to be saved, and believe Jesus is the way.
Now looking back, in love, You tried to answer me.
I was bound by my sin and you were setting me free.
I sought direction from friends, to see how they coped.
Pain and problems left them empty,
They escaped with drink and dope.
I hung, smoking hash and weed, taking speed.
It numbed me for a little while but never satisfied my need.
The coke was nasty, made me sick, and caused my nose to burn.
It only took a few times trying and that was enough I learned.
I smoked a lot of weed, it made me laugh and also think.
It also made me paranoid, now that part really stinks.
The thing I used the most, Lord, of course, you knew it was speed.
I tried it in many different forms, felt It was just what I need.
Until one night in Germany, while partying with my friends.
My heart was pounding and I was sure my life was about to end.
I cried out to you,” “Please help me, God, don’t let me die like this!”
You wrapped your loving arms around me and responded to my wish.
Thanks, Lord, for not turning me away, you always have been there.
I ‘m sharing this for those who lose hope to show them God really cares.
