God In My Gold Mine
GOD IN MY GOLD MINE
I started in a coal mine so many years ago,
I put in all my effort—‘twas the only way I know.
But influence of others led me down the wrong way,
And soon another coal mine of sin I worked that day.
‘Twas many years of mining before somebody came
And told me of a Saviour, and I trusted in His name.
Soon God became my coal mine, my life was greatly changed,
And my goals and ambitions he really rearranged.
For now my selfish interests and money that I earned
Became the Lord’s entirely as more in faith I learned.
The coal mine now behind me, a gold mine now was there
As I reached out to others with gifts of love and care.
The tithes, they soon were doubled, and grew more every year,
God blessed my gold mine greatly and He became so dear.
More schools and churches started, more missionaries, too—
The gold mine kept producing, ‘twas such a sight to view!
I give God all the glory for blessings that I find
As I reach out to others with God in my gold mine.
