God, I Thank Thee

I’m hiding behind the pain,
Using his name in vain,
Breaking divine laws but,
They’re things I never believed in.
Waiting on the truth,
Waiting for the proof,
Papers written by man and,
We’re supposed to believe them?
It doesn’t make any sense,
This concept I cannot grasp,
If it is for the greater purpose,
Then why doesn’t it feel like it’s worth it?
I’m living like I am incomplete,
The furthest one can get from you.
Every day the devil steady creeps,
Hoping one day I don’t pray for you.
Damn he never sleeps,
Damn he only eats,
Devouring the essence of my soul,
Hoping one day with him I may go.
But never,
Never will he take me.
For my savior will always be here,
Watching and protecting me.

God, I thank thee.

I can certainly feel the anxious thought of temptation turn to peace and assurance of faith that excitement quickly moves with expectant words of love, joy and trust that creates a thankful heart .... Awesome, a real blessing I very much enjoyed reading....

Dale Bronson - I thank you for your wonderful feedback. You definitely hit the nail on the head on what I was going for as in the feel of the word play. Please feel free to comment on my others as well. I am just starting to bring my poetry out of the shadows and could use some real criticism. I also am a recently published author with a poetry book out called The Stand.
