God and Soldiers

In times of trouble and times of sorrow-
we beg God for a better tomorrow.
And in times of war and in times of strife-
we call upon our brave soldiers to fight.

But when all our troubles God does erase-
we soon forget about His amazing grace-
and the problems that we no longer have-
now soothed away by an all-healing salve.

And when the fighting is come to an end
and peace at last finally does descend-
we forget our soldiers and why they serve
and a way of life many died to preserve.
