Notes About The Poem

Gobsmacked

It came
             quite unbidden.
           A cancer diagnosis,
    leaving the fitness enthusiast
                gobsmacked.
The doctor mouths "I'm sorry," as
        she's frozen in her chair;
           tears trickling down
                 her cheeks.

You’ve done well! Life is not a given, no matter how good shape you think you’re in. The other chair reserved for the caregiver!
