Goals
Goals
I wasn’t raised with many choices
Chances I got almost none
This was not a disadvantage
Nor a memory I will shun
’Cause the absence of abundance
Kept me thankful and content
And I did not waste time dreaming
Of what life I could have spent
I was always in the moment
Made the best of what life dealt
And today I reap the blessings
Of the things under my belt
As I look back I am happy
There’s not much that I would change
For the goals I set before me
Are not far but within range
And I keep on looking forward
’Cause what’s done is in the past
Now I see that what is waiting
Is a beautiful forecast
I keep reaching, wishing, hoping
Ever busy, full of grit
And if still life may surprise me
Well, too bad, then so be it.
