Go Out and Play

I turned on the news
And what did I see,

Not a glimmer of hope
It was staring at me,

Today in our world
We see things that we shouldn’t,

The media now shares
Things that we couldn’t,

It opens up views
For everyone’s comment,

Some hurtful and spiteful
Regretful and not meant,

We change up the channel
For witty and funny,

For tv and internet
It’s a ship load of money,

When I was a kid
My parents would say,

Finish your homework
And go out and play,

We’d run in the woods
And swim in the lake,

Cook on a bonfire
Our own fun, we would make,

We never knew
All the bad and the good,

We just had our friends
And good thoughts as we should,

Children grow up
So fast in this day,

Teach them to wonder
And go out and play!

"Go out and play. We'd run in the woods and swim in the lake!" This is perfect, because it described exactly what we would do. Homework first. Nicely done, Faith!
