Go Back To Sleep
Quiet, shush… did you not hear
that silent, lurking, shadowed fear?
It creeps through rooms in dark of night
and under doors when locked up tight.
It raises hairs on back of neck
yet disappears when turned to check.
In corner of your eye is set
A looming, formless silhouette.
It scratches at your window panes
and crawls up bathroom shower drains.
Quiet, shush… did you not hear?
The wind and dark is all you fear.
Your room is safe;
no shadows creep.
( () ) ( () )
It’s nothing child;
go back to sleep.
