Go Back To Bed

We fed the cows in the hot August afternoon in and out of the scratch raspberry patch not enough water not enough berries we stamped the dry grass and I sat on the porch and watched him mow the acre lazy and sated in the heat and sunshine oh yes I could live here forever and just leave it all start over start again from where we should have begun in the beginning late afternoon and the heat doesnt quiver we sit legs over the porch side and drink water think about dinner silly sideways glances of kids for lovers our age just waiting to go back to bed.
