Gnomer the Perpetual Student
Gnomer never wanted to stop going to school
He loved everything about it but the golden rule
Other people were annoying, simply in his way
He was glad to go online finally, one fine Tuesday
He studies all the time, his mother said to me.
Has gone to school fifty-two years, but no degree.
When he gets close to one, switches his concentration.
I work three jobs, have never had even one vacation.
I made a mistake, told him I would pay for his school.
He takes advantage of me, thinks I am a fool.
I know he never wants a degree, but that is okay.
I don’t know what I would do if he moved away.
