Global Catastrophe

Fragile lives
Hopeless cries
Dad survives
Daughter dies
Around the world there’s no surprise
Just closed mouths and dried eyes
We shake our heads in disbelief
They bow their heads in prayer and grief
We move on while it’s God they seek
We take things for granted while they are murdered each day of the week

Little children
Elderly adults
Shot and slaughtered
Their spirits revoked
Refugees are raped and choked
Starved and beaten even after bones are broke
Men women girls boys
Victims of indiscriminately evil ploys
Tears of blood no tears of joy
Weapons and human beings are toys

International hopelessness
Shrugged shoulders twisted lips
Surrendered hands demonstrate this
Mortality impacted
Morality dismissed

“This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper”
-T.S. Eliot

Wow, the truth in this poem is tragic indeed, but the articulation is a thing of beauty. We are living in a world controlled by corporate greed and most of us are mere slaves in their system, getting paid pennies to support ourselves and our families while we make them richer. Instead of rallying together to change this, we fight amongst ourselves and commit atrocities just like our masters. God only knows if things will ever change. Thanks for posting this message of truth. Again, a great read.

Just read your work and you have captured so well the evils of this world, theres a quote that goes, Evil flourishes when good men do nothing, very nicely penned

Your poem is so well written and tounching...reminds me of Anthony Hamilton's song, "Aint Nobody Worrying". It is a sad time that we live in, hope more of the world reads your poetry and inspired to change it just a little!!

Troubling to see. but the outward events are the result of inner dynamics. Change the individual from the inside out, and suddenly the entirely world is bright and beautiful! Love Justin

Too bad some individuals aren't transitioning and won't transition for world stability because they feel they can't make a difference OR they just don't care enough about the sufferers of the world outside of their homes or themselves <3
