Giving Thanks

Gosh, Whom should I thank?
I know nobody of any rank,
Verily neither my peers nor kith and kin.
In the game of life there's no win
No love, no gratitude nor preference;
God, only towards Thee is my reverence.

The wordly gifts I seek not
Heavenly bliss let be my lot -
Ambrosia nor Elixir or Caviar,
Neon light, spotlight nor Polestar,
Knight, nobleman nor king or priest
Save a loaf of bread and wine feast!
