Giving God the Glory For My Poetry
GIVING GOD THE GLORY FOR MY POETRY
He amazes me with words that come expressed in poetry
And with the comments that return when others these words see.
I never know just why He gives me words right at the time,
And I may never fully know the places that you find
To lodge within a person’s heart, encouraging your day,
But that won’t stop my ready pen from sending them your way.
If this small talent that I use gives help to anyone,
Then I have done the deed for God and Jesus Christ His Son.
If one short poem with stanzas brief, with messages in rhyme
Encourages just one today, then it was worth the time.
I want no glory to remain with my name for these thoughts,
My Jesus deserves all the praise, for He my soul has bought.
And He’s restored me to the place where I once wandered from
But now desire to be again as back to Him I come.
I may not get the accolades that other Christians will,
But I will use this gift I have and serve Him with it still.
For He will judge my work some day not by its quantity,
But by the attitude I had as I wrote faithfully.
Yes, all of us can do something as in this life we trod
To lift up others on the way and live our lives for God.
I write for Him--what do you do with talent great or small?
Oh, place your life in Him today and give to Him your all.
