Give Me Your Axe

They always made
Me feel so small.
So I put up a fence,
And also a wall.

But now it's stuck.
I can't tear it down.
Which makes me sad,
So I put on a frown.

I don't want my wall,
To be built so high.
So I pick up my axe,
And let out a sigh.

I hit the wall,
As hard as I could.
I started to cry,
And it actually feels good.

Piece by piece,
Dust is flying.
I want my heart,
To no longer feel like it's dying.

All of a sudden,
When things were getting brighter.
I couldn't breathe anymore,
The space had gotten tighter.

I was about to give up,
About to lose hope.
But then I saw someone.
"Hey, why the mope?"

"I'm stuck in this hole,
And I can't get out.
I'm going to die here,
There is no doubt."

"Give me your axe.
Let me try for a while."
Next thing I know,
We had gone about a mile!

With tears in my eyes,
I asked you why.
"Everyone deserves help.
It's not your time to die!"

You don't have to
Tear this down on your own.
It would be very hard to do,
Since it's made out of stone.

So let me be here,
You just relax.
Sit down for a minute,
And give me your axe!"

Someone else
Was fighting for me!
I was crying so hard,
That I couldn't see.

For once in my life,
I could put down the weight.
I'm not meant to carry it,
That isn't my fate.

With help from you,
It is going to take time.
But the wall will come down.
I'm going to be fine.

I don't need to feel guilty,
We all need someone.
And together I know,
We will both get this done.

Thank you for helping,
For seeing the good in me.
I hope to become a better person,
And be all that I can be.
