Give Me Light
For days that seemed weeks that passed, I found,
I was in such a slump of writer's block and sad inhibitions.
A cup of strong bitter coffee could not change my condition
and finally it slippped and dumped down upon the ground.
Give me light out of the dark
just a hint, a glimmer, a little spark.
The days were gray and black with a one cloud sky
as the wild wind chilled with an enraged howling cry.
The trees all shook and the branches broke
I sat and watched with emotional feelings unprovoked.
Nothing appeared to draw me out of this unwanted depression
and the weather matched me with every stormy expression.
Today at last, I woke to watch the setting moon
as it stretched across the sun's new opportune
and there it was the great welcomed passing
of the darkness once thought everlasting.
Smile wide and gleefully, just in time
taking in the brilliant bright sunshine.
