Give Me a Smile

Lately I have began to feel like I'm in this world all alone Blankly,so often staring at things As if they are the unknown My mind seems to be slipping A little more every day I don't think I will ever find the end To the distance it will stray A year ago things were simple Everything was in it's place Now my memory has left me Gone without a trace Once in a while I will think a thought Then write it down as quick as I can But then my days seem shorter With that pen clasped in my hand My minutes have turned to hours Soon my hours will turn to days Next it will be the blue skies That have all been turned to greys My thoughts will begin to get jumbled Unable to speak or write Which then makes all the grey skies All be turned to night So when you ever have a happy thought Think about it as long as you can Then think about the person that wrote this That poet who's name was DAN :o)

It came from a head injury. And now I think I have some kind of swelling in my brain or something.Still looking for answers.Finding more answers on my own though.

Is this true Dan? I was without memory or knowledge of who I was for 5 years. The last two years my life has returned to normal - amazing - and I have been writing for the last six months, something I never did before. This verse of yours brings tears to my eyes. Thank you!

Thank you,for commenting.I was told twenty yrs ago that I had a gift. But at the time just didn't see it until about a year ago.Now words are flowing free, but my memory is now going.I'm glad this poem touched your heart :-) That is the only reason I write.

Alshiemers thoughts at home without a phone. Can leave one feeling awfully alone. But communication done in pen. Can help one get out of bed again. Remember to keep your thoughts at bay. When it's something that you shouldn't say. But kindness is always a welcome sign. May your heart know love when you see this :) of mine.

gosh ,Dan, you sound so alone there. I hope you don't have real memory loss, the kind which has plagued some people I have been close to in my life. I like how this reaches out to us with that spirit that nearly all poets have, wanting to touch others and be remembered my them as well. LUv, Andrea

Amazing poetry!!!! I loved it! Wow-so talented you are. I especially like the beggining and end-how it catches the attention, and wrapped up so perfectly to conclude! Wonderful! Always, Laura
