Give Love A Chance

Life is not about me and you. It is about love. What happens to love when spouses turn against each other. When brother turns his face against his brother. When nations raise sirens of war. Love stands defeated, head bent low, looking down in shame and sadness. So, my dear friend today let us not look at each other with eyes that pierce like dagger. Instead let us look to Love. Let us give love a chance to stand tall, high, head looking upwards, face glowing, shining and full of hope. For too long we have looked to ourselves. While love stands patiently waiting on our doorstep. Let us give love a chance to hold hands, to embrace, to caress and to kiss. But one would ask what can be done when there is betrayal, treachery and loss of trust. Then must love necessarily hide herself in clothing of darkness and slip away into the quiet shadows of the night. Or must love then burn alone, silently like a candle in your heart and let forgiveness flow like melted wax to the offender. What does love demand? The utmost? Where one would hang on the cross crucified and to his brothers for whom he came into the world say “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do?” Today Love stands like a broken down wall where enemies come and plunder her wealth. There she stands naked, bruised and forlorn. Brothers and Sisters, let us then put aside ourselves and gather up love into our arms. Let us hold her tenderly and nurse her back to health. Let us sing to her songs that would heal her wounds restore her joy. Give love a chance, give love a chance, give love a chance… Let her stand tall, strong and undefeated…
