Girl With the Gimlet Eyes
Her golden hair and gimlet eyes
Caught me completely by surprise.
With her I felt virile and strong
As she slowly led me along.
Into her dark web I was drawn
Only to be her little pawn.
Her secrets I feel I must share
But she will track me anywhere-
To Benghazi, Rio, and Cathay.
She now seeks to put me away
With no need of high-powered lead,
Loving subtle poisons instead.
I seem to hold a dead man’s hand
As I scurry from land to land.
Carefully choosing what I eat
All my travels must be discrete.
I now move around in disguise
Avoiding words that are unwise.
Just a shadow on the world stage,
Seeking a journal to confess
Where she will be without redress
As it spreads wide my sorry tale
Stripping her empire of its veil
Before she crumbles in her rage.
Daily I fear knocks on my door
Stretched in darkness beneath my bed
With pounding heart and aching head
Awaiting my next meal in dread
That fresh pizza will be, instead,
Puffer fish pie to square her score.
