Girl On My Mind

By Laura
January 14, 2016

Forever alive in my tired mind
This memory that I can't define
These lips I couldn't wait to kiss
This touch I couldn't bear to miss

It comes from glossy fairy tales
A moment that could never fail
We take back the night with stolen hearts
The way that she takes me back to the start

The feelings I had when life was young
A night of forgetting my cold, black lungs
Inahaling the breeze between the burning trees
Higher than the peaks inside this raging sea

Making claims, "we're not insane" we say
Believing in the ways she took my breath away
The past is filled with ghosts, and we have lots of those
But future lives in present time; without a way to close
