Gin And Tears

And as I reach my end of years
I’ve come to know my gin and tears
A pleasant cocktail, I suppose
As time, that mighty river flows

Yet, not for sadness in my cup
                  This combination sums it up
But rather sweet and salty times
That brought me all the best of rhymes

Reflections with an added twist
A tonic of a potent mist
For life’s true reverie is clear
In all I’ve lived and loved so dear

So gin and tears I recommend
When all alone or with a friend
A nice, tall glass will do me fine
I love the life that has been mine

I hope again in ten years’ days
As flowers grow and music plays
I’ll sip away, no matter where
With gratitude and love to spare

Gin and tears sure beats Tin and jeers!... And how about at least 20 more years of sipping away down here!! To Life! ~ Gershon

Too many can make you quite emotional but moderation is the key. Its lovely to look back, sadly there will be tears but laughter as well. Have a lovely weekend Mike, I'm on my travels again, cheers. Tom

For my dad it is martini and tears…the constant of olives and his lost I-Love-You Mom. He cheers her purple urn every day around the same time… A pleasant cocktail, I suppose… Hugs ~ Kim

Hello Mike, You made me smile and unfortunately for me I never knew when to quit. So I quit in 1993 and I sometimes remember the good times in those days. What a wonderful read! - Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

I'm not a fan of gin - they call gin mothers ruin lol. I will join you just for the tonic and we can have tears of laughter as drinking alone isn't always the best:-) hugs jan xx
