Notes About The Poem

Gift Wrapped In Love

Hark, listen to the church bells ring In welcome to our newborn King Sing in praise for the Holy babe It was for us our Saviour came. As never before - kneel and pray For peace on earth this Christmas Day Come back joyous days of yore When hearts of gold came to the fore. Choirs accompanied by brass bands Sang out to crowds who'd stop and stand In weather cold beyond reason Celebrating Yuletide season. Friends and neighbours often stopped by For festive cheer and a mince pie Folk selflessly shared what they had No one went hungry, hearts were glad. Children were content to accept A stocking hung on the bedstead An apple, orange, a few nuts If they had behaved well enough. Token gifts were given with grace On the day the world celebrates God's only son, His precious gift Wrapped up in love and fellowship.

Hi Belle, In all of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, the true meaning of Christmas was the precious gift wrapped in love; that was lying in a manger so many years ago. Christ is the reason for the season. Well done. Thanks for sharing such a meaningful write. Enjoy the rest of your day:-) Alexis

Thanks to you Alexis for those beautiful words, there’s times the reason for the season gets cast aside in the hustle and bustle of the Yuletide... Enjoy your day too ~ Belle :-)

Thank you very much Victor, fun doesn’t really belong in the Christmas story, it’s all about love, joy and glory... Belle

Thank you Tom, amongst the glitter and partying the reason for the season is blown on the wind. All’s well, hope it is for you too. ~ Belle
