Ghost of Me

I know I've gotta hold on
but the ghost of me
is reminding me how weak
I can be.

Most times I can barely hear
her whispers
but when I'm losing strength
the person I used to be emerges

She tries to convince me to let go
to fall back inside of her
blue limbo.

A place I've treaded before
but it seems like I always cry when
caught up in her world.

There is no sun shine
but she also promises
no disappointment
for the hefty price
of nothing to live for
and a need to enroll
for a membership to gain
friendship.

On those rare occasions
when I get seduced by
her lullabies
I want nothing but sleep
and depression starts to
dull the fight in me

But before I actually jump
in the pit of no return
I come to my senses
I realize how strong I am
and the ghost of me
quickly diminishes.
