Getting Older

We used to be like them
as we now simply shuffle along the floor
we would create cool moves
but now have learned the fox trot and more...

We used to walk down the street hand in hand
now we simply talk or energy is less
you understand
but the smiles are the same
as is the wink of the eye
and you are still in my heart
and at times, I still feel kind of shy...

Now we have grandchildren
who would have thought?
seems like yesterday we were children ourselves
but somehow by time we got caught-

so now we look to our golden years that are o so near
you and I together
go forward without any fear
challenging our bodies to keep up with the times
as we stretch and bend and keep rhythm in lifes rhymes.
