GETTING OLD

One does not accumulate annual sums.
One simply ages and thus becomes.

Like fine wine and gourmet cheese;
appetites will reject or please.

Should the ambiance be sweet or sour,
old age is a gift to embrace and devour.

Nice poem, Kenneth. I thank you for sharing your verse. One becomes seasoned as time ages us. I'm not through with seasoning yet and still learn something new daily. I know my numbers and when added equal 9, I like 9 and will act as such. at least for a while. I like what Robert Frost said in “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening”, "and miles to go before I sleep." I too have many things to do before I close my eyes forever. "...embrace and devour". - Chris
