Getting By

By Laura D

Got a sunny disposition
And a pocket full of sunshine
Got a reason to smile
But it sure as hell is not mine

You got a bright light
And a penchant for contradictions
You know how to shine
But you're fighting through addictions

It's a place that we have
But I can't see over the skyline
A dream that we share
But I still can't see the outline

Just stay on your feet
Cause I just can't hold you up now
Stay here with me
We'll make it; I don't know how

Learn a different way
To see a road that isn't dying
Don't know what to say
But I won't resort to lying

I'll carry you through
It's a short path towards virtue
I'll take your pain away
And we'll make a fate that's brand new
