Getting By

Sitting in Starbucks
Sipping chocolate mocha
Invisible now

Furtive glances up
Who else is hiding today?
Moments of repose

Needing to be here
Waiting for no one to come
But looking busy

Quiet voyeuring
Pushing out conversation
Trying to listen

The next table leaves
Where will they travel to next?
Guessing is insane

Around the corner
Maybe, another coffee?
How ridiculous!

I am drowning now
Caffeine is my drug of choice
Pathetic, I know

I should go swimming
Exercising my body
My cup is empty

"Move on now", I say
The people are coming in
My spot is needed.

The last Haiku is very touching in many ways. I say or think this many times when we eat out. Keep the creative pen flowing. Sara
