Gem's Lament
broken strings
on your guitar
no longer get repaired
and rough songs
lay scattered
'cross your room
you're not here
where lattes
where cappuccinos
meshed with your tales
of soul, of sex
and reparations
your dream
came by today
a thirst for those stories
that brought us joy
that brought us tears
clinging to their faces
