Hi Robert! Thank you! While we get frustrated when our squirrels strip our fruit trees, their antics do entertain us. All the best.

This is such a fun contest theme. Seems there are many of us who get a kick out of watching nature's clowns but also share a frustration when they pick off our fruit tree harvest! So glad you enjoyed this little bit of silliness!

Hi Jan! Thank you so much for your delightful feedback. It never occurred to me that your island might not have squirrels. That is really interesting. I'll send some of ours your way?! ha-ha! Not only are they fruit burglars but they are definitely clowns with inventive ways to get at the bird feeder and the ripening fruit. Hope you are well. Hugs!

Thank you Jo. Our squirrels are real clowns but I am ready to do battle with them this year over the apples, pears, nectarines and apricots. Have found an all natural oils - cinnamon, peppermint etc. - spray that they definitely don't like! This was a fun haiku theme. Blessings!

The squirrels here have also broken 2 hanging bird feeders and steal all the food from the birds this year !

Agreed Milt! They are clowns but they will strip the tree bare of fruit if left to their own devices. Have found an all natural oils spray (cinnamon, cassis, peppermint) that seems to repel them. And, it helps when Paddy chases them. They definitely don't like my dog patrol!

I know what you mean, Sam. I get so frustrated with the squirrels in my backyard, but I love them. I love watching them, and I hope I never have anything more frustrating in my life. I'll be okay!

Thank you so much Heidi. We have a whole platoon of squirrels who grace(?) our fence and yard with their acrobatic whimsy! Last year they got all of our fruit except the plums! Am preparing for battle this year! Four footed furry thieves but they do make me smile with their antics. So glad you enjoyed this haiku! Sending you blessings!
