Full Circle
My body filled with surprise last week
as I turned the corner and stared at the book.
Collecting old Nancy Drew novels is my
hobby, all antique stores I look.
As a child I used to place a sticker on
the first page inscribed with my name.
Just to make sure if I lost my sweet mysteries
they would be returned to me to claim.
Each sticker was a Unicorn
that I picked out carefully.
The beauties protected my pages with pride
and enormous brevity.
As I picked up the book and
turned the page my legs gave out on me.
A beautiful Unicorn sticker sat staring,
was it mine, could it be?
I looked at the name and lo and behold
Kristen was faded in ink.
I looked up to God and closed my eyes
then really started to think.
Fate had landed in my hands
and brought me back my treasure.
The tickling tears strewn down my face
this moment can't be measured.
My Unicorn had protected my favorite
Nancy Drew.
I lost it once as a child
It came back to me out of the blue.
