Written: January 08, 2025, for contest Sponsored by: Hilo Poet ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Fields of snow are starting to melt, Pristine whiteness turns to brown shade, As snowflakes and grime in chunks dwelt, Fields of snow are starting to melt, Uncovered ochre footprints welt; Under the weight of paw pads spade, Fields of snow are starting to melt, Pristine whiteness grows to brown shade.

SP. You are so versatile, and we can interpret a poem like this in different ways. Is the transition due to something like climate change, or is it from normal weather changes on a short-term basis. Or, is it an allegory for what's pure now becoming sullied by something we can't control? All fun to think about. Smiles, sir!!!

All rather bewildering, climate change is happening so fast. Glaciers in the Arctic and Antarctic are slipping into the ocean daily, the ocean is rising which is affecting humanity with more than the cold or hot weather, properties that were built by the coast, are redundant, no re-sale value, undue storms .. Causing floods and more and more landslides 'Fields of snow are starting to melt pristine whiteness turns to brown shade'. Very sad. All the above mentioned have become reality. Mankind sounds doomed. Blessings my friend, Jennifer.

Seasons change, and we expect that our environment will change, too. Winter turns into spring and then summer. The snow melts, and the land changes hue. Great imagery.
